Did you see a meteor (bolide) fly over Croatia or Slovenia on Wednesday, July 25, around noon?

The object was seen as a bright "ball of fire" (bolide), flying over Croatia in roughly south-north direction, and is presumed to have fallen to the ground (after exploding) either in Croatia or Slovenia, probably to the west of Zagreb. It appears to had broken into several smaller pieces, as some fresh reports mention several meteors streaking across the sky over Dalmatia.
*Any* information is scientifically valuable and would be very much apprecciated, as it is my professional interest. Thanks!

Please, feel free to e-mail me, too, especially if you have the event filmed on video or have photographed it.

I've seen the news and articles, but there is no real footage, the stuff they showed on TV was just a montage of archive shots. I'd like to get in touch with actual witnesses (which, so far, we've been unable to contact). And since it's a tourist season, with many people wielding cameras, I'm sure there's some video out there.

Thanks to all who answered. The video on the link you provided doesn't show actual footage of the event (it was during early daytime, and the short clip of a meteor is clearly from evening hours), unfortunately. However, thanks for answering!

Hi,
I was on holiday in Croatia last week, and i've seen the meteor. I was on island Dugi Otok and on July 25th around noon suddenly I saw a spot getting lighter and lighter. Unfortunatley I couldn't shoot any photo or video. The direction was north-north-east.
I can't understand why there's no more media coverage about such a special sight. I only found a tv article with some amazing videos in Croatian.

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated and useful!
There is no real video of it (yet).

The Croatian news report does not include video of the meteor in question. The first video clip in the news footage is real but not the Croatian meteor. The rest are fakes found in Youtube. They probably added them only for visual presentation of what the meteor could've looked like.

Yes, I know; it's funny how many people thought the footage from the beginning of the Croatian news was from this event, which happened around noon (and the clip clearly showed a bolide filmed in the evening).
Thanks for looking into it, Hannu!
