(Personal comment: at least Japanese apparently are curious about the true answer to that question for the earth's welfare, I am afraid some people are just interested to know that "mecca is the center of the earth" for some agonistic reasons given the religious significance of it to some people. BTW. I've came once to some similar claim (apparently for similar motives) that Israel is the center of one flattened hemisphere.

Mecca is older than just Mohammeds time.. you christians are aware that God told Abraham and his son to build a temple to God together in the old testement.. That was built where modern Mecca is today.. So the place is historically sacred grounds, by Gods decree..

i dont know about that, but i'm sure it's the center of a religion called Islam. But if it scientifically proved, i won't surprise. the place is amazing but sadly i've only seen it in pictures and "Inside Mecca" by National Geographic
