What is the best time to have laminate flooring installed?

Presently we are having a hard time get contractors to come by to install our flooring, About 500 sq ft of wood laminate, is this a small job that they consider not worth their time? would it be easier possibly cheapier to want until late fall to get this done?

The best time is when the room is empty. & when you can put up with what ever trouble it entails.

If you can have it done on short notice the contractor may give you a good deal if he can wait to do it when it is easy for him.

Other than that its when some one can find the time to do it,

Have you tried to get some one from Home Depot?

i just had this done to my house in greece....having watched the men do it, i realised how easy it was, i could actually have done it myself. it is very simple to do. first you make sure the floor is level and clean, no gobs of cement if it's a cement floor. then you place down a piece of plastic, you can get them in huge sizes, then you place down a special sheet foam stuff on a roll that you buy with the wood, then you just start laying the planks next to each other, they all fit tongue-in-groove and pop together. some you will have to cut obviously, but this can be done with a laminate tooth saw, and a sharp blade knife.....there are how-to books that show you this step by step....
i dont think the time of year has anythign to do with it. ask the store where you bought it if they have any contacts for laying the floor you just bought! good luck.

There are many specialty flooring stores that sell laminate flooring besides the standard Lowe's, Menard's, Home Depot, etc... Stop by (or call) because each one will have lists of contractors that do this type of job. The one you had discussed the project is not the only one around. Keep checking until you find what you want: the soonest or the cheapest. If you do decide to go with someone else, definitely call this first one to cancel the job.
