oklatom has given you EXCELLENT information!
I work at the Chicago Auto Show every year and i would like to offer some personal advice.
If you live in the Chicago area, all of the new car dealers there will have a limited supply of free admission tickets available. We give these to our special customers & to perspective buyers who visit our establishments. We also have a supply of discounted tickets. Since we don't get them until just befor the show dates ....we can't give them out untill then.
If you do not live in the area, I would suggest that you start now to make arrangements. The show is at the McCormick Place in downtown Chicago & it would be wise to make reservations at a nearby hotel soon. It is one of the largest auto shows & people come from all over the country to see it.
The show lasts for 10 days & is much less crowded during the morning hours of the weekdays, however 'special' events & guests usually take place in the late afternoon & evenings & on the 2 week-ends.
if you are visiting Chicago for any length of time here are a couple of sites than can help you to plan.

In addition to the admission , be preparred to pay $16 a day for parking if you are driving. That's another good reason to stay at a nearby hotel & use public transportation to & from McCormick Place.
Don.t forget it's COLD in February in Chicago......& there's usually at least one snow storm during the show dates making commuting a nightmare.
I hope you get to go. It is worth the trip !
Maybe you'll see my Avatar walking around ... LOL
