Yes it won't hurt them right away but after a while it will make them sick. It is way to high in protein for dogs.

YES- do not feed her cat food. put beef or chicken broth on her food if you have to, but dont feed her cat food. cat food is higher in protein than dog food and can damage her kidneys.

If your dog has a sensitive stomach, cat food can be very bad for it. It will cause extreme diarrhea. I have a golden retriever who can only eat Science Diet Sensitive Stomach because his stomach is just that sensitive, yet he still sneaks around to the back porch to try and steal cat food every so often. I have found cat food to be very hard on my dog's stomach and GI tract, so I wouldn't advise it!!

Cat food is not good for dogs. Its very fattening. He will have a hard time digesting it because its so rich. Plus it doesn't have the proper nutrients a dog needs in its diet.

Cat food has no nutritional value whatsoever for a dog, especially not a puppy. Also, as previously mentioned, it can eventually lead to kidney problems and/or diarrhea. Your puppy needs to be on a good puppy food, not cat food. You need to put the cat's food somewhere high and out of reach where your pup can't get to it. If your pup isn't eating the cat food and therefore getting full of off it, then he will eat his own food.

Its not dangerous but does not hold the the right protein levels for dogs. Cats have high protein levels/fiber etc. If you have a large breed puppy then yes, it is dangerous because they must have low levels or they grow too fast. Did you just get this puppy? If she is new, then she is just nervous right now. If you were taken away from your mom and put somewere else, you had no idea were you where, would you settle down for a meal? Leave the food out, she will eat will she gets hungry. Don't worry. Don't feed any other types of food though, especially not cat food or human foods

YES, cat food is very bad for dogs. It does not give them the proper nutrition that they need. Take it away and start feeding puppy chow. When they get hungry, they will eat. Please don't feed cat food.

Yes it has higher ash levels that are good for cats, but bad for a dogs kidneys. Could lead to kidney stones and other problems with continued use.

NO cat food! Cats do not produce the enzyme taurine naturally. Taurine is added to their food. Dogs produce their own taurine, and eating cat food will overexpose them to it and cause liver failure. One of my own puppy's owner called me a couple of years ago asking about liver problems in my dogs. I asked her right off if Otis had been in the cat food, as I remembered her cats. Turned out he had indeed hogged down a fair bit,and had high liver results in his bloodwork, which is why she called. I told her to keep him OUT of the cat food and why. Two weeks later, his counts were again normal. NO cat food!

Well I don't know if it's bad for them or not, but puppy food would probably be a lot better.
Have you tried mixing puppy food with cat food?
or maybe it's the brand of the food... puppies are odd like that.
If they don't like the smell of something or the texture they won't eat it.

If your puppy gets into it every once in a while it won't hurt it, but as a diet cat food is totally inappropriate. Cat food is much higher in fat and protein than dog food (even puppy food) and feeding a dog cat food instead of a diet appropriate for dogs WILL cause problems, most often liver and kidney damage and pancreatitis.

Your dog needs to be on dog or puppy food. Pick a brand and stick with it. Feed your puppy 2-4 times a day and leave the food down for 15-30 minutes and then pick it up until the next meal. Do not offer any other kind of food or treats (except for training purposes). No healthy dog of any age will starve themselves...eventually your puppy will realize that what you are offering is the only thing that it's going to get and when s/he's hungry enough s/he WILL eat. Catering to your puppy's whims now will set your dog up for life as a finicky eater and puts your dog in control. If your puppy goes more than a day or two without eating anything then you need to see a vet to make sure there isn't a medical reason for your dog's lack of appetite. Very small breed pups like chihuahuas need to eat small amounts of food every few hours to keep their blood sugar levels up, so if your puppy is small or very young you shouldn't wait too long. Large breed puppies can usually go a day or two without food without having any major problems, although even a large breed puppy needs to eat regularly especially if they are very young. Keep any cat food out of the puppy's reach and don't give it as little treats. And make sure your puppy always has access to clean water.
