What are the symptoms of diabetes?

A doctor told me he wants me to be checked for diabetes. If anyone out there has diabetes can you tell me what some of your symptoms are?

I hope you don’t match any of the symptoms of diabetes. Even if you do, you do not need to panic, it can be controlled. Some of the more common symptoms are weight loss, frequent urination, visual disturbances heavy sweating and sleeping too much There are indeed quite a few symptoms, but most people never realize they have diabetes until they're tested. The test involves a simple blood test. On the given link you can find some easy diagnostic kits for diabetes. Your physician is the one who has to order the blood test. Your physician will tell you whether you have diabetes, and you certainly need to pay attention, because it is YOU, not the doctor, who will have to manage your diabetes. you can find some tests below

thirst, weight loss, tiredness, peeing a lot, maybe yeast infections

It depends how old you are. If it is the juvenile type of diabetes, it can come on quite suddenly, with extreme thirst, peeing a lot, being very tired, losing weight and possibly feeling out of breath. When my son had these symptoms at the age of four, I could hardly believe the doctor when she said he had diabetes!

For Type 2 diabetes which starts in later life, the symptoms are similar but maybe less sudden and acute. If you have any of them, do get yourself checked out. If you have this type of diabetes, it is unlikely you would need insulin injections, but it could be controlled by sensible diet and possibly tablets.

thirst, weight loss, going to the loo for a wee a lot, falling asleep a lot, were my main symptoms

I had Itchy/burning feet, excessive sweating, continuously thristy, swelling in my legs, always felt hungry, & headaches,
I was diagnoised late in 2006 with Type 2 it's been 10 months and I am still learning to live with my condition..

My symptoms started very fast as a kid and the doctors believed that I probably had it only a few weeks before I was diagnosed...my parents got me into the doctors as soon as I looked pale. The thrust was the fist to happen, then consequently the frequent urination, hunger, weight loss, I became very pale had clammy sallow skin, my vision was a little blurry.

For most juvenile or type one diabetics the extreme thirst is the most overwhelming thing.

The basic symptoms are, but not limited to:

frequent urination, frequent thirst, blurred vision, weight loss, dizziness, headaches, cramps, excessive fatigue.
