Darvocet side effects?

Today is my forst day taking darvocet - i was prescribed this med to help with my awful migraines. After taking the pill how long does it take for it to begin working? I kow it said it will cause dizziness and drowsiness. How long before these effects kick in? I am wondering because I am at work and do not know if I should go home or what because I do not want to drive if it makes me dizzy or drowsy. Thanks!

I took Darvon (the predecessor to Darvocet) from the age of 11, for severe menstrual cramps. For me, they did not work any better than taking two aspirins or two Tylenol. I never had any bad side-effects from taking them--and I was a kid.

If you've only taken one or two you'll be fine to drive, and the effects come on in about 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure you don't take them on an empty stomach though or it will make you feel sick. Also make sure you eat plenty of vegetables and water because it will make you constipated after a little while.

It really depends on how sensitive your system is to the effects of the medicine. Some people become quite drowsy, others notice no effect at all. For most people the effects are noticed but become most severe about an hour after taking the pills. And like they always tell you, don't drive to do anything risky until you know how it is going to affect you personally. Assuming you still have at least half a work day left, you have a desk job and your employer is understanding I don't think I'd drive just now.
