My neighbour comes into my house unwanted, what can I do?

My neighbour doesn't have a life, but doesn't seem to mind busting into mine... and specifically: into my house. I set up a couple of traps to see whether she came in and I'm pretty sure she did... keys that are placed wrong, stuff dissapearing, things that are placed in another way then how I Ieft them behind, things that are eaten or missing, etc.
I'm going to freak out... changing the locks would be an option, but is there a way to have certain PROOF that she busts into the house? I want to know WHAT she's doing, if she is reading documents, looks for important stuff or even money(?), things like that...
Any ideas?

i live with some old ladies and i have the same problem. i just set my webcam to film 24 hours a day, like a bank security camera (to see what they were doing in my room). i caught them and satisfied my curiosity (and got the PROOf). but seriously, you can do the same and threaten them ("if you come into my house again i'm taking this to the police...") or change the locks
the last option would be the best though, less effort. but you should really make sure that she comes in.

i used my webcam and windows movie maker. you could set the webcam in the place you think she's been most

did you consider putting a camera - those things aren't expensive - if she gets into your house - you can see what she does - and you also have the prove on tape - so you can confront her and eventually contact the police if necessary

how come??? Did you give her the keys? If not how does she come in?

If you have a car why not park it at a friend's place and lock your doors with the blinds closed on her side of the house. That way you would give the message you aren't home. If she enters your house when you are home then you must talk to your police. Your house is your castle and you only have people there who YOU invite in.

you can get a camera put in and when you see that she has came in confront her about it and tell her next time you will show it to the police, no one should come into your house unless invited.

Start with changing locks. It can be re-keyed at a locksmiths and replaced rather cheap. You can set up a minny cam and hook it to a remote VCR for under $100. There are also motion sensitve cameras.

You can hire or purchase a couple of very small cameras that work off of their own built-in batteries. If you place them discreetly around your home where you think she'll visit, you'd have a good case for the police to investigate her activities. Have a good day.

well you have to be really sure of it that she's coming in. when you mean breaking in ( through a window, or open door?) or has she been given permission to come in at some time in the past? Well if you want to be sure yeah the things your doing sound about right, placing things in certain ways, but make sure you write down egsactly how you left things because its easy to forget yourself! If you know she likes something, like cigarrettes or alcohol or munchie food, leave some of that around or in the cupboard and have a suss at that.
But iv'e had this prob before with people and youv'e just got to end the relationship or explain what it is you are trying to do in your life and you dont want to be hampered by other freeloaders.
Some people are pretty slow to get the message so your going to have to make it pretty clear. Youve just got to believe in yourself and what you stand for and not let them pursuade or influence you into things that are taking things from you.
    Good luck

Why not just change the locks? Why wait to see what this neighbor is doing in your home? My advice, change the locks, and put a fraud alert on your credit rating.

Nobody likes to be watched so setting up some cheap dummy cameras by the entry point should do the trick.
