How do I know when my apples are ready to be picked?

I'm in zone 8, Georgia. My apple trees are full. They are green baking apples so they are not really fit to take a bite out of. They don't turn red, so how do I know when they are ready to be picked? Appreciate any help, thanks.

Hold a fruit in your hand and give it a slight twist clockwise ( or anti-clockwise ). If it comes away from the tree easily it is ripe. Bit early in the year just yet though.

well, if they're green and that's wat they're supposed to be, just go ahead and pick just one, and see if it tastes right. lol if it doesn't taste quite ready you can either pick some and let them sit inside for a while or on the tree, but you want to pick before they're just right because otherwise they will go bad if you don't eat or use them all at once.
