I found some vicodin which expired 6-7-07 is it still safe to take?

They are safe to take, but may not be as strong as they once were.

Is there a reason you will be taking these IE: injury, headache, surgery etc...? Were these prescribed to you? If not, you shouldn't be taking them in the first place.
Most medications in the narco/opiate class have a one year shelf life just in case you need these for medicinal purposes.

The US Goverment did a study, and found that shelf life on pills was about 3 times longer than the date stamp. Less for liquid meds, about 1.5 times the date stamped. And refrigerated liquids was almost the same as stamp date.
This study was done by the GAO, in reference to replacing all the stocked drugs for the military that had expired.
So I take it with a grain of salt, so to speak, and add 1 year to pills, 6 mo to liquid, and none to refrigerated prescriptions.

Hey Jojo,
Yes, it is perfectly safe for you to take them...just make sure that when you do take them that you have some food on your stomach, otherwise they could upset your tummy.
when the manufacturer puts an experation date on their product, that means the drug is guaranteed by them that it is definitely good unt il then, when in actuality, the product could be good to take 2 years after the prescription is filled. lots of luck..........
