Is phenergan safe during pregnancy?

I took phenergan for my last two pregnancies because I have 24/7 morning sickness for the first 4 or 5 months.

It made me sleepy but it helped ease the nausea and vomiting.

Phenergan is a Class C drug not associated with birth defects but there are still a lot of studies that need to be done. Whenever you take prescription drugs in pregnancy the benefits should outweigh the risks.

Yes It is safe! The hospital gave it to me when I was pregnant with my second son. He turned out very healthy. I am also pregnant with my third child and had to take it again, when I was sick. My doctors have told me it is ok to take when pregnant.

That is for nausea right? I dont think so, but check with your doctor to be sure. try to drink water, and have some saltine crackers.

Yes, it is. My doctor had to prescribe it for me because of severe nausea and vomiting. He only gave me 25 mg though.

this is a class C drug, so basically this means they will not test it on pregnant women, however it also means there is probably not a lot of proof of adverse affects. if there were they would move it to a Class D.

i took it through all 4 of my pregnancies so far and everything has been fine

this is what most OBs perscribe for nausea.

I don't like taking ANY medication during pregnancy, but sometimes you have to. I had hyperemesis-gravidarum during the first few months of my pregnancy and my doctor gave me phenergran pills. I couldn't keep them down so she gave me suppositories. I ONLY took them when I absolutely had to. I had no problems from them. If the doctor prescribed it and knows your pregnancy back ground you should be okay. They won't purposely give you anything that will harm you or baby. Don't take it without prescription, though. if your doctor prescribes it for you for nausea, ask if you can get Zofram instead - it's very safe.

It's a category C, so they're unsure if it's safe or not. But depending on the situation, the benefits may outweigh the risks. If your insurance covers it, ask for Zofran. It's the best anti-emetic, but it's very expensive, so some insurance companies won't cover it.

Not really. It is considered a Level C drug which means that no pharmaceutical company and no public are willing to trial preganant humans (which is logical) on this drug, so we don't know what the effects would be if you did take the drug while pregnant.
Your best option is to discuss the issue of what you would be taking phenergan for with your chemist or doctor, the chemists are usually very knowledgable about what you can and can't take while pregnant.

Yes, thats for morning sickness for people who throw up to much. I had to take it .
