It was ok. I took it when I quit smoking 6 years ago, but I don't think it helped all that much. I stayed off the smokes without it, but I do take Zoloft now for other reasons.

I have had a very positive experience with it. No bad dreams. No side effects of any kind. I take it for depression.

I have anxiety so it didn't work well for me. I ended up having panic attacks because of it. It made me feel jittery and nervous. It was the best as far as side effects though. Compared to the others like prozac, zoloft, effexor, lexapro, etc. nervousness was my only side effect. I didn't have any of the sexual side effects like from the others. Good luck with it.

I've been on welbutrin xl for 4 years. it works pretty well for every day but sometimes i need to take a buspar for an added boost. it does make you lose your appetite slightly, which i guess could be good if you are trying to lose weight.

Depends on what is has been perscribed for. It is sometimes given as an antidepressant, as an antipsychotic, as a diet aide, and as a smoking cessation aide.

For the most part, most patients have great sucess with it, and experience only minor side effects such as; cramping, diarreah, nausea and vomiting.

Although it is important to mention that Welbutrin has been known to give some patients paradoxical effects. What this means is that it will give you a side effect that is completley unheard of such as; tinnitis (ringing in ears), or hyperactivity.

It took the edge off. I suffer from the whole host of Asperger comorbid depressions, anxieties, etc. That nagging urge in the back of my head that 24/7 tells me I need to be dead and takes glee in explaining exactly how I could do it with the things in my general environment is greatly reduced and weakened by Wellbutrin.

Do not expect it to be a total cure or treatment though. Even still, I have what I call 'bad-thought' days, which is a euphamism for "days I really, really don't care and really think I'd like it if I were in a tragic accident that left me dead."

    ------

What Liselotte_B fails to mention is that Wellbutrin actually has a lower occurance rate of seizures than most anti-depressants, however, because it was released after the FDA adjusted reporting requirements, it has to report that side effect where others, with higher incidences, do not have to report it.

The Wellbutrin seizure risk is lower than many other anti-depressants.

I have been taking it for over 4 years now and I love it. I started out on Wellbutrin, then went to SR then XL and now back to SR as I find it most effective but everyone is different. It has helped with my depression in combination with others. I have lost a tremendous amount of weight and it continues to suppress my appetite and I quit smoking. I hope it works good for you. Good luck~

My daughter took it and lost her voice. She sounded like "I went to a football game in the cool night air and screamed my head off" hoarse. I took her to an ENT doctor who told us that she had permanent voice damage. He sent us to a speech therapist to "help her make the most of the voice she has left".

When she went back to see her psychiatrist, he discontinued the Wellbutrin started her on Effexor, and within a month her voice was back to normal. I don't know if it's done that to anyone else, just thought I'd share it with you.

I take it for severe depression borderline manic and it works fine for me. I also have to take paxil though for my hormones when I have my period, though. My grandmother takes it for depression and does great on it, too. My friend took it for anxiety and she hated it. So, I guess for depression it works, not so well for other things. Everyone's body is different though and will respond to medication differently. I couldn't take Lexapro or Prozac because one made me suicidal and the other one gave me nightmares, insomnia, stomach pains, migraines and a whole host of other issues.

I have taken it for 4 months for ADHD as traditional medicines made my hair a bit thin :(
I find it to be a really good medicine for me.
The only side effects I noticed were a few days with bad headaches right after I started that lasted a few days and went away.
I still am a little likely to get a headache more often now, but that's just me.
I know most people take it or depression, but for me it's been so helpful without highs and lows.
I've never had a seizure of any stomach problems with it, nor do I get anxious or angry.
And I did quit smoking--I didn't even know it was used for that at first, lol--I just decided to quit about a week after I started :)
    Good luck!!

Great. It's the only anti-depressant that works for me because it's atypical in that it's not an SSRI. I've had a bad reaction to every SSRI I've tried, but I've had no noticable side effects on Wellbutrin and I've been on it for a couple years.

I am on Welbutrin, have been since last Wednesday. I took 1 pill for 3 days then Saturday I started taking 2, one in the morning and one in the evening. I am experiencing some pretty bad anxiety, nervousnes, and on one occasion (Friday night) extreme agitation. Sunday I was so anxious I didn't even want to go out to dinner and yesterday I didn't want to talk to anyone at work. I called my doc and she perscribed me some valiums to take as needed over the next couple weeks. The valuim is making me feel a little spacy but I guess thats better than being all anxious. Overall at this point I am feeling emotionless. I just want to feel normally and consistantly happy (and have a sex drive) is that to much to ask? I'll give it a couple more weeks and see how I do. Anyone experienced similar side effects? Some words of encouragment would be nice...
