How can i repair scratches in a laminate counter top?

Question

Over the weekend i and some people over and one of the guests cut up some limes on my counter top. They are brand new, and are the black speckle type, they are laminate what can i do to repair this or even fix it? Can i do something to prevent it from spreding or getting dirt or stuff stuck into the cracks?

I found the following information for you at the Do It Yourself Network . They say, you can repair small chips on the work surface of the countertop with laminate-repair paste. It's available in a variety of colors, or you can mix it to match the color of your countertop.

Or .. if the scratches are minor you can always apply VERY CAREFULLY a minute amount of clear nail polish on top. This will seal the scratch from dirt or food from getting embedded into the scratch.
