start 2 cups of water boiling and add 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon oil add 1 cup of rice and stir .lower the setting to the lowest point and cover the pan.shut it down in 20 minutes.

for pasta just start the liquid boiling and add the pasta.use a little olive oil to keep the pasta from sticking together.

For Rice: Put a pat of butter on Med. High setting in the skillet. Pour your rice in and brown it til golden. Then add your water and bring the mixture back to a boil. Turn heat down to Med. Low and cook for 20 minutes with the lid on. (Homemade Rice-a-Roni!!)

I love to cook rice in my skillets. I put some water and seasoning in the skillet just below the top of the skillet. I let the water get hot and then add the rice and let the rice cook untill all the water is gone. If rice is not done just add more water until it is then i put in a little buttler stir and serve.

Pasta: Add water to skillet, bring to boil, add pasta, cook ten minutes (for most pasta; angel hair will take less time, the chunkier pastas may take more), stirring occasionally.

Rice: Add water to skiller, bring to boil, add rice (plus butter and salt, if you want), turn heat down to simmer, put on a tight lid and cook 20 minutes.

With the rice, the electric skillet's heating elements may create a hot zone in the middle of the skillet and leave colder spots around the edges. The outside rice can end up undercooked. To avoid this, take the lid off halfway thru cooking, give the rice and remaining liquid a quick stir, replace the lid, and finish cooking.
