Vegetarians do not eat fish.

Those people have a special name, its "confusing wannabees".

You'll find they upset all vegetarians with thier nonsense. Just look at all the thumbs down for the fishy answers above. Nonsense.

The dictionary has a definition, its "...someone who does not eat meat, fish, poultry or slaughter by-products". Its a clear definition which needs no caveats or modifications. Goodness knows why these people think they have the right to re-define the English language.

And your sub-question,: Yes, certainly fish are animals.

thats what i thought, it annoys me that people eat fish & call themselves vegetarians i think they think its trendy
I agree with everyone else here, that if you eat fish or poultry, that is not a vegetarian, that is a non red meat eater. I do not eat red meat often and I am also going to be giving up all other meat , including fish. I will not become vegan, but I will become a vegetarian.

Personally, the only reason I don't eat animals is because of the way they are raised and killed. But I see nothing wrong with the occasional piece of fish, so long as it isn't corn fed. If you have something against killing an animal for food, you have something against any predatory animal.

It's all about how the animals live. If I could find a source of non-industrialized meat production, I'd eat it. Eating animals is natural for humans. What is unnatural is how the meat comes to be on our plate.

I don't like to label myself as vegetarian because my motives aren't identical to many people under that label. But aside from eating fish (and considering eating lamb not from Australia), I have a basically vegan diet.

Its not that they are not vegetarians. Their special name is not "confusing wannabees". Its called pesco-vegetarian. They eat fish, but not any other meat.
