Wedding Reception of 100 or less...how much food?

I'm wanting to cater my own wedding reception. I'm not planning a sit down meal, more like appetizers and punches. How many appetizers each should I prepare of each recipe? I'm thinking it's going to be around 75 people but just in case there are a few more added to the list..I'll do enough food for 100. How about drinks for 100? Wedding punches and maybe bellinis (we love them)??

It is typically suggested that you serve 7-8 different types of appetizers. You do not necessarily have to prepare the same amount of each appetizer. (You may want to prepare more of the most popular dishes and not as much of the less popular dishes.) Just be sure that there are around 8 pieces per guests (so in total around 800 appetizers). You should also be prepared to serve 2 1/2 cups of punch per guest. Some guests may eat more appetizers and drink more punch than others, while others eat and drink less, so it usually balances out.

If you are having a light reception than 4-6 different types of appetizers would be fine with 5-7 pieces per person. I would probably still serve the same amount of punch, but you could always do 1 1/2-2 cups per person.

Since its appetizers I suggest you making about 5 dozen of each appetizer. There doesnt have to be one appetizer of each per person. But it would be nice to see variety. So make like 6 different appetizers and make 5 dozen of each, then you have 360 pieces of food for 75 guests which gives you about 4-5 appetizers for each which sounds good to me. For punch, I would say 6 people per gallon so you would need about 12-14 gallons of punch.

Plan for at least 2 appetizers per person. One if more of a "meal" will follow.

Best of luck to you. My Mom and I did my wedding.

Why on earth should you feel it necessary to spend good money on feeding other people. The money you spend on food and drink could pay for you both to go on a honeymoon holiday. I know it sounds a bit ungrateful but in this day and age you have to save up as much money as you can. If on the other hand you can afford it then a buffet is quite acceptable and a glass of sherry at the door. 4 bottles of Whiskey, Vodka and gin. along with two or three dozen can's should set the party off to a good start, chicken drumsticks seem a good idea along with Ham, turkey, cheese and cheese and onion, and anything else you wish to add about 25 plates of good size should be more than enough.

For sure wedding punches just make several different bowls of punches I would say about 5 punch bowls probably maybe less. For food just make what the recipe calls for doubled! Maybe make 7 different things! It doesnt need to be a big event it can just be a little gathering!
