Did anyone ever get married in Mexico and regret it?

My relatives are driving me and my fiance crazy to the point where we are thinking about just going to Mexico to get married. The only thing stopping us is me, because i've always dreamed of the fantasy wedding (church, isle, beautiful gown, etc.) and i dont want to give that up. We've already booked a church and reception site. We would only be out $200, so we can still back out. I just wanted peoples opinions before i move forward. Thanks :)

Additional Details

If we did go to Mexico....it would just be us. None of our family can afford to come. This is one of the downsides to a Mexican wedding.

do what ever you guys want. but remember, it is ya'lls wedding....not mom & pops or aunt sally, or cousin nikke.....yours! so you need to make that clear and put your foot down. dont let other people interfear with one of your biggest dreams.

If you believe you will really regret getting married overseas, don't do it. Put your foot down and tell people this is your wedding and you're doing it how you want.

That said, you can still have a small, intimate wedding at a resort or something in Mexico, the Caribean, etc. (Resorts such as Sandals include a free wedding if you stay for 7 nights.) You can still wear the traditional dress and have a lot of traditional aspects, but they do all the planning and you don't have to worry about your family interfering.

I plan on getting married overseas with immediate family (our brothers and their wives and our parents) only. My best friend will stand in for me and my bf's best friend, and their partners would be guests. I've never dreamed of the big, traditional wedding, so this is just the perfect, intimate wedding for me.

If you really think you'd regret not having a traditional, big wedding, sit down and talk with your family. Otherwise, go for it! I think you'll love a Mexican wedding.

    Good luck!

When we got married, we had been living together for 6 years. Because of that, we thought a big wedding would be a little 'anticlimatic' so we decided to just go to Monterrey, MX and have a small ceremony for just us in a beautiful old cathedral. We probably had 60 friends and family show up! We had a blast and wouldn't change a thing!
