How do I get rid of aphids on an indoor tropical plant?
One of my tropical plants (Syngonium spp) has developed a really bad case of aphids all of a sudden, and apart from not knowing how they got there in the first place, I have no idea how to get rid of them. I don't want to get rid of the plant if I can help it, and cutting off the infected stems won't help - I'd be left with no plant.
Any suggestions?

Use a mixture of soapy water. The insect breaths through its exoskeleton, the soapy water will smoother it. Use one table spoon to a pint of water and put in a spray bottle. Use a soap free of alot of fragrance- Joy works well.

A little soap, 1 tsp in a qt of water
Ideal is to apply, wait for 10 min, then rinse
Repeat every 3 days for about 2 weeks
Then about once every day.
Know your enemy
there are over 4,000 species of aphids only a few hundred have names
The come in every color from white to black
Each born prego female lays 200 live babies every 2 weeks
They can fly 125 ft on a windless day and carried many miles in a wind.
A good gardener starts spraying from the time the frost melts until the ground freezes again

Soapy water. Not too soapy though. Just a little soap. Don't spray it on the plant in the sun or put the plant in the sun until it's rinsed off.

Try a solution of a small amount of dish soap mixed with water about 10 to 20 % soap to water put in a spray bottle and mist the plant good good idea to put the plant in the tub or shower first{overspray} Did you get any NEW plants lately? You need to find the source!!! Good Luck The solution wil drowned them.
