Rangers-Thrashers, your thoughts?

Question

Well as a Ranger fan, I think we match up well and should be able to walk away with the series in 6 games. Rangers have the experience, youth, talent, superb goaltending and they've been really clicking over the past month or so (ever since they acquired Avery). I think the Rangers are the dark horse this year and will surprise a lot of people. 90% of their losses is because they do something stupid (like putting the puck in their own net), so I think if they control that and don't take stupid penalties, they can matchup with any team 5-on-5.

But I'd like to hear some unbiased thoughts on the matchup. I see a few people here picking Atlanta to win the cup....I just don't see it.

If you want "best answer", don't simply say "Rangers rule!" or "Rangers suck!" or "Thrashers rule!" or "Thrashers suck!" Back up your claim please :). And if you're a fan of neither team, even better.

You mean Lundqvist, not Holmqvist (Holmqvist is on TB). But I agree with your assessment.

They are both in the same situation. Both of the teams are great teams that is when they are messing up. They have both had their equal share of flubs and mess ups but i believe that if both teams are playing great hockey with out any mess ups the Rangers have a better hockey club then the thrashers.

It is just a matter of who shows up to play and play good fundamental hockey with no flubs or mess ups.

I agree that it depends on who shows up, and I also agree that if both teams play at their A game, Rangers have the better of the two.

Im a thrashers fan as you know. And not from a biased opinion but looking at the facts. Atlanta wants it more, Bob Hartley (coach) was almost in tears when at closing night he said "It was this time last year we were telling you to have a nice summer, But now we are going to the playoffs, and-" He had to stop because he was to emotional. You shoulda seen the effort of Kari Lehtonen too, he was phenominal. And Ilya Kovalchuk has never been before, he wants this.

Fan of neither....but Rangers should be beware of Hossa and Kovulchuck....they're dynamite, even more dynamite than Jagr and Shanahan.....in spite of that though, Rangers have a much better goalie than Thrashers....if Rangers win, it will be because of Holmqvist
