to all those why said Kobe is not a team player, a ballhog

ex:

steve nash gets around 19 points and 11 assists per game.
kobe bryant gets around 31 points and 5 assists per game.

ok, so kobe decides not to get the points and start dishing out passes.

yesterday, versus the kings-kobe got 19 points, 13 assists.

he can do it anytime.

but nash is the Point guard!
kobe is a shooting guard!

point guard make the plays
shooting guard shoots the ball to score points

so anyone can start making passes instead of scoring and get MVP? no that is just bs.

it's not about who's making the most assists, this is not battle of points or assists in the statistical category. MVP's are all about "who makes their team better, who makes their teamates better players, who provides on and off court leadership the best, and most importantly WHO PERSONIFIES THE NBA THE BEST".

certainly not someone who comes out swinging his elbows and clotheslining opponents once they decide to stick it to him and turn the defense up a notch. Kobe may or may not be a dirty player, but the point is...have you ever heard nash swinging his elbows?

that certainly speaks of immaturity or poor sportsmanship on kobe's part.

he scores a lot alright, but are they a better team because of that? look at their team record, they're just 2 places away from being the last in the west and are actually just a few wins better than the other two below them.

kobe may be a great player and a great individual talent, but a great teamplayer and leader he is not.

I hear ya. But the fact is, Nash makes eveyone on his team better and Kobe is his team. Nash is the best all-around talent in the league right now and he WILL win his 3rd MVP in a row this year. Kobe should be in 3rd place behind Dirk.

Jordan was a shooting guard, averaged more points, almost twice as many assists, had fewer turnovers, more rebounds AND won games.

Yeah, Nash is the point guard. So is Iverson. AI has scored a lot of points in his career, as well as shooting a better percentage than Kobe and having more assists.

MVP is about making your teammates better. Nash definitely does that. Why is it that players who have left the Suns don't play as well? Why is it that players who seem to be washed up come to the Suns and have career seasons? One word - Nash.

Nash is shooting 53.4% from the field, 47.2% from 3-point. Kobe is shooting 46.2% from the field and 36.0% from 3-point. Not only is Kobe shooting more, he's missing more as well. They are about the same in turnovers, steals and blocks.

It's more than shooting or assists that make a player an MVP. It's something Kobe has yet to demonstrate - leadership.

I think Kobe is an overall better player and more valuable to his team.

However based on the records (Suns 55-18 w/ two straight against the Mavs) vs (Lakers 39-34) I'd give the nod in this argument to Nash.

Kobe can be a team player when he wants to be. Right now he is being criticized about being a ball hog so he starts passing the ball around to his team players. Why doesn't he play that way all the time? Kobe is a great ball player. I won't argue that point, but he is not a good team player unless he needs to be. Instead of striving for his team to improve he just plays to look good himself. NO COMPARISON TO STEVE NASH!!! Not even close.

i think Kobe deserves MVP..... if you think about it... if you take dirk or nash away from there teams, those teams would still be good, but if you take Kobe away from the Lakers you are talking about one of the worst teams in the NBA
so kobe IS the Most Valuable Player.

good point man...kobe is labeled as a shooting guard so people should not be suprised with his shots people need to gfet off his back, as hes shown he can pass the ball very effectively when he needs to with his 13 assists in the face of all kobe haters..

The only reason he passed the ball yesterday was because Ron Artest is the best defender in the NBA and he couldn't do squat against him. Everybody else on the Kings sucks on defense so that's all he had to do was pass the ball and let his teammates score.
