My sister loved living in Cleveland. She worked downtown and lived on the West side (first in Lakewood and then in Rocky River) she went against the traffic to get to work so she never had delays. I loved visiting the city. The rent and home prices are pretty average with the rest of the mid-west (Michigan, Ohio and Indiana). Everything was easy to get to and in and around.
Lakewood has rent from $395 (studio) up to 1400 (house or luxury apartment). Home prices are the same you can find something cheap up to high end on the lake shore.
Oh- one more thing, the West side of Cleveland isn't in the snow belt. The East side of the city gets hammered by the snow from the lake (lake effect).
