Percocet vs Oxy IR?

What's the difference between Oxy Ir 5 mg and Percocet 5/325? I know that Percocet is oxycodone and aspirin and Oxy Ir is just oxycodone...but is there really a difference?

Click on the links below and you can read all about these meds.

PERCOCET http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/DVH/Uses/0,…

This medication is a combination of a narcotic (oxycodone) and a non-narcotic (acetaminophen) used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Oxycodone works by binding to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord, and acetaminophen decreases the formation of prostaglandins, therefore relieving pain.

OXY IR...http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/DVH/Uses/0,…

This medication is used to treat moderate to severe pain. It acts on certain centers in the brain to give you pain relief. Oxycodone is a narcotic pain reliever (opiate-type).

Great! Thank you
OXYCODONE is the generic brand for PERCOCET. They are basically one in the same. Just like Hydrocodone is the generic of Vicodin etc., etc.

oxycodone is not a synthetic morphine. oxy ir, is simply oxycodone immediate release. Synthetic morphines would be something like diluadid. Oxycontin is S.R. oxycodone... It is an opiate- not synthetic. Talk to your doc to make sure you are getting the correct info. A lot of misinfo out there!
