Is it true that if we sprinkle grits on top of an ant hill, they will eat it, swell up, and die?

I was looking a way to get rid of ants, and someone said that sprinkling uncooked grits on the anthill will cause them to die.

They said that the ants will eat the grits, which will then swell up after absorbing the juices in the ant's body, which will cause them to split open.

Is this just a crazy tale, or does it really work?

It works. I've done it to get rid of ants in the yard.

Thanks!

I heard black pepper will work too, but not sure on that one.

Wonder if jalapeño sauce would work?
