Has anyone checked out the concepts at the Detroit Auto Show? Ford took a Chrysler Concept name.?

Ford's new Interceptor has the same name as the old Chrysler concept , without the hot look.

You may remember the Chrysler Interceptor from the Charlie Sheen movie "The Wraith."

Does anyone else think that they should have come up with something original instead of reusing a name from a different company?

I think using the name was just fine. It worked great for that car, and Ford had every right to use it. It was an awesome concept car. Chrysler obviously didn't have any ownership of the name so it was free game. After reading countless articles from all kinds of automotive sources, you are the only person to make that connection so its obviously no big deal.

Obviously, it's no big deal, but I and several of my friends will always think Mopar when we hear Interceptor.
Actually, Ford first used the Interceptor name in the 1950's. Hope this helps.

I just read the questions & comments. Robert C is correct. Ford has been using the name Interceptor for many decades...so if there is any ownership here of the name, it clearly belongs to Ford.

I'm a big mopar fan myself but I have to agree with the others. The interceptor name was used by ford first. Anyone remember the car from MAD MAX it was a ford falcon XB and for what I have learn it was built in the land down under where the movie was filmed.
