"The Ambitious Guest", at it's main theme, is a story of redemption. The story is linear in nature and highly allegorical. Class issues are highlighted by the author and are reflective of the period in which Hawthorne lived. "The Ambitious Guest" is the is the story of lazy punk who wasted time playing his X-Box and going on Youtube and would rather go to Yahoo Answers than do his goddam homework.
