Are Jinns demons? Why were they never seen before Muhammad?

Did Muhammad cominucate with beings that could have been demons? Did other prophets also talk with demons? Why are they in no other scriptures and why not seen by all of the prophets? When did God created these beings? What is their purpose?

Additional Details

My point from a religious point these things would have been considered demons by the prophets of old...Why are Muslims believing in them when they were not a part of previous scripture?

Mystery woman can you show me in any scripture before Muhammad where it was told of these creatures? I can't find anything about Soloman having anything to do with Jinns!

Nope I'm sure it is not in any scripture before the Qu'ran...How is it god waited 4500 years to speak of them...wasnt important to reveal them to the Jews and Chrisitans? are they a special treat for Muslims only?

Mystery Woman It is my understanding the Scholars both Jewish and Islamic consider the II Targum of Esther Jewish folklore and Islamic Scholars are trying to disassociate the Qu'ran from borrowing from this folklore.

See how fast Islamic Scholars try to disassociate the Qu'ran with this obvious fairy tale http://www.islamic-awareness.org/Quran/S…
Funny you would make this connection.

No. All Jinns are not "demons".
They are a creation of God made of fire.
Some Jinns are good, some are bad. Some are believers in God, some are not.
Satan is a jinn. He is one of the evil ones.

They were seen before Muhammad (pbuh). Soloman (pbuh) had control over the Jinns, when he was alive.

As far as I know, Muhammad (pbuh) did not communicate with "demonic" Jinns.

Jinns were created before humans were created.
Their purpose is also to worship God.

EDIT: From Judaism:
From: II Targum of Esther : “Solomon gave orders ‘I will send King and armies against you (of) Genii [jinn] beasts of the land the birds of the air.’
EDIT: I am NOT associating anything with Jewish folklore. I am just showing that Jinns have been mentioned in other texts; not just Qu'raan.

Lol I didn't say you were.Ony that you made the same connection as many Scholars who believe Muhammad got his inspiration from the same fairy tale you mentioned.
