how about using cable ties?

Try some of those plastic ties that loop and slide in a slot and click when you pull the end. Electricians use them to bundle wires.You can get a bunch of different sizes and colors at the hardware store.

They are called ZIP TIES.

If you want it to be more or less permanent, try using galvanized wire.
