What are some new ideas for UNICEF to fund more immunizations?

Immunizing a child against the major preventable diseases costs just $17. What can UNICEF do to fund more immunizations?

Today's youth is under utilized and can be a wealth of help. Create a program for schools to use to create participation. Most larger cities have business classes in high school, why not create a program to teach children how to run a non-profit organization. The possibilities are endless with the creative minds of teenagers. And who knows, you might just find a new leader in your crusade for immunization funding.

Also capitalizing on youth... create a myspace page and challenge kids to raise funding. Again... the possibilities are endless.

What ever happened to kids carrying UNICEF boxes around at Halloween? It might be a small step, but I remember almost everyone doing it as a child.

This program helped both to increase donations and instill within children here a sense of ownership and accomplishment.

I wonder if expired vaccines are donated by large drug companies as well as pharmacies. Those expired medication are excellent for an additional year (by law they require an expiration date). If UNICEF doesn't have enough now is time to request them from the proper source. Usually this is the type of medication that tends to be donated (expired one).

They could start by giving the medicine to the local doctors or smaller organizations that work in third world countries so that the medicine is better shared. It's only a thought.

Call the BillGates Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Big Foundations like these have ARE QUITE HUMANITARIAN, and have huge funds to spare, besides being tax deductible.

I think having the children do more fundraisiering at school because it is for the children and the parents could get involved, maybe it would stop most from having nothing to do. Make them use there minds on how to help themselves.

more people in this world die because they don't have clean water or decent food and not from war .
Maybe if the average American was educated about the world they would know that people are still dying of Hepatitis, AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis because the governments in these poor countries are run by crooks and the money we send to their country is used for armaments and bank savings rather than for the citizens ! That is the problem , get rid of corrupt rulers..... first you gotta learn what is corrupt and what isn't and not just watch TV and expect it to educate you . GET out and travel to poor countries and learn from the people themselves.

There are so many good causes for charity that the average person is overwhelmed which charity to pick.

I like the idea of a lottery to support the cause as most people like to gamble and even when the odds are so great...look at the state lotteries?
well, you probably won't like this idea but the whole world likes to gamble and i would contribute if i new there was a chance for a windfall will come to me...that's just me.

walk-a-thons, bike-a-thons, pony rides.maybe you can get someone in the community to donate a pony or two for a day to help out. try getting this info out to the community and if people are made aware of how little it actually costs maybe they will donate money or time and whatever talents they may have to help out and raise some money.most people will be glad to help if they know how. good luck.

American immunisation drug companies were making immunisations with mercury in them, or at least utilised mercury in the production of the drugs. Once law was passed that these were deemed unsafe and "poisonous" for Americans (and causing a whole heap of side effects) the government decided they would play Santa and give third world countries their gift of immunisations, rather than waste the batch of drugs that cost them more than $50,000... I guess one governments poison is another ones present
Makes you wonder.... I think immunisations are important but I also think that if it isn't good enough for Americans then substandard health services shouldn't be provided for those who already have so little. They deserve the same equlity when it comes to their health.

Our own country needs help before it crumbles under the weight of its own burdens. The root of all of Man's problems stem from needless human overpopulation.
