Why is instant oatmeal not as effective for reducing cholesterol as quick-cook or regular oatmeal?

An article I read said that eating oatmeal regularly (regular or quick-cook, but not instant) can help reduce cholesterol levels.

instant oatmeal has been processed to decrease the cooking time and to increase the shelf life. there is less fiber in instant oatmeal than in whole oats.

whole foods that are 100% natural are optimum for health and fitness.

I checked the labels today, no trans fat in the instant oatmeal I usually buy. But I'm switching to quick-cook. Thanks for taking the time to answer.
This from Donna Feldman, MS, RD:
"Oatmeal contains beta glucan, a specific kind of fiber that lowers blood cholesterol. Instant oatmeal contains the same beta glucan and the same amount of fiber as regular oatmeal. From a heart-healthy standpoint, instant oatmeal is just as good as regular."
