Why are the spiders in my house white?

The house spiders we get in my house are really small and whitish or sometimes a gray and sometimes hard to see. I haven't seen spiders like this anywhere else and I can't find much about it on the internet. I live in Ohio so maybe it's some sort of "northern spider" or something? They also come out at night, usually more in summer and they all go on side of the cars ... those disgusting little things! EWWW. I SCREAM when I see them and I SMUSH THOSE LITTLE BUGGERS when I see one.

What it sounds like, which I can only hypothesize because I can't see it, is that you have either a type of orb spider otherwise known as a garden spider, or a type of wolf spider. Both are very common and come in a myriad of colors including white and grey. I've included in this a hyperlink that can tell you about them. Either way, they do a few good things for you including eating mosquitos and some even go after small rodents depending on the size of the spider.
