I have an AO Direct Vent Water heater. Is it normal for it to be so noisy when the hot water is running?

You can't even be in the basement when the heater kicks on because it is so loud. Not a great thing since dh's home office is down there!

Additional Details

It's a roaring, whooshy, rushing air sound. Hubby says it's the blower(?)

what kind of noise? is it like a popping sound? or is it the sound of your blower? or the sound of the burning kicking on?

there is many differant sounds it could be. i need more info
