How do I remove chewing gum from my electric dryer without using a substance that is flamable?

I've had this problem before and all I did was remove as much as I could manually (scraping or picking it off with a stick or something that would not scratch the surface) and then using Goo-Gone to get the rest off. If it is dried on hard, this might take a little elbow grease, but it works.

Use ice to freeze it then it will come off easily. You can also use Eucalyptus oil to remove it from clothing, after removing most of it by using an ice cube to make it brittle. Ice does the trick nicely. I made the mistake of not checking my pockets one day when loading my washing, and got green chewing gum over all of my clothes in that wash. Using the above methods worked for me.
