The link between Argentina and Italy is indirect. A big percentage of Argentinian population has italian heritage. It's worth to be noted that when Italy became a fascist country in the 20s, US banned immigration from Italy and many italians went to South America instead, favouring Argentina because the weather there is pretty similar to Italy's weather. I am italian and I just came back from a trip to Argentina, every other person I spoke to had italian heritage (although they were always proudly argentinian).
You can feel it in the way people dress and eat, it's very similar to Italy and I felt at home. It was strange, in many regards, I felt like I was in Italy, just everybody spoke spanish instead. People even say 'ciao' to say goodbye, just like in Italy.
Also, if you have italian parents/grandparents, you can get an italian passport. Many argentinians took advantage of it when their economy collapsed a few years ago. So in Italy you may find several argentinians with italian passport living there.
