How can I remove tape from a filing cabinet effectively?

Question

I don't want to scratch the surface. The Issue: A memo has been taped to the cabinet numerous times and there was leftover tape that has build up....Help!!

If the cabinet is made of metal, you can use fingernail polish remover. That should take it off without leaving any marks. Just use a cotton ball. That's happened to me before and I have had much success using the polish remover. Good luck to you!

Try something like WD-40 (hardware stores) or GooGone (Just about anywhere). Soak the area, and let it set for a few, then scrape off the leftovers with a dull object that won't scratch the cabinet. You may need to do it a couple of times.

Use any kind of oil, baby oil, etc. Just rub gentle.

take a wet wash rag and a butter knife and put the knife in the rag a gently rub it a across.

I use windex. Spray on and rub it in....let it set for a few seconds and it should rub right off without damaging the surface. If this does not work then try goo-gone.

There are two products that will work very well for this. "Goof Off" or "Goo Gone". They can be purchased at Home Depot/ Lowe's or your local grocery store carries them in the hardware area.
