How do I make my laptop's screen brighter?

When its running on batteries the screen is nice and bright like it should be. But when I plug my computer into an outlet the screen dims. How do I make it bright all the time?

I've got a hp, running on the latest version of windows.

The basic procedure is to find the buttons with a small screen drawn inside with small arrows pointing up then press the "fn" button.

The name of the sign and "FN" button change with he model of the Notebook or Laptop. Please tell us what model is your laptop to obtain a better answer.

hold the button with the blue 'fn' writing, then keep tapping the up arrow that's towards the right hand side to increase the brightness.
