How come there are Liberty Bell Symbols on some street signs in Philadelphia?

I am on vacation in Philly and I notice that some street signs have a liberty bell symbol to the left of the street name. Why is this?

The liberty bell is a symbol for Philadelphia. It's known all over the world! I've only seen the liberty belll street signs in and around Old City...where the liberty bell is located.

It 's because all Philly-steaks and Philly cream cheeses are curiously shaped like bells. ( Or it could be that the Liberty Bell is on display in Philadelphia at Market and 5th Street)

That's a good question!! I've always wondered that myself and I'm from Philly. I'm curious to hear what the answer is. I've been to most parts of the city and that symbol has been seen in other areas besides the Liberty Bell location.
