Definitely a life destroyer.

Diazepam is only the generic name for valium, they are one and the same (as is Librium, just a stronger version of valium).

I was given Valium about 20 years ago for sleep disorders. Sure it made me sleep - I slept for 10 hours a night; but did I wake up feeling refreshed? No!. Because diazepam is a CNS depressant. It makes you sleepy, but it depresses REM sleep. REM sleep is the bit that refreshes you mentally (non-REM sleep might refresh you physically, but I think the jury is out on that one). After realising that it was making me sleep but also making me feel more tired, I gave up.

I count myself lucky that I was not persuaded to take it for longer. From what I have read recently, it is very addictive and causes more problems than it solves.

However, having had large doses of diazepam in single pre-op IV injections, I can say that it has its attractions in short term high doses.... mmmmmmmmmmmm!

Same here mate
Good luck finding a solution that doesn't involve anything nasty and addictive, and that actually helps instead of appearing to help.
