What am I doing wrong? I have tropical plants in my home that die within a week of purchasing them.?

I buy them all the time because I love the way they look in my house however they all tend to die within a week of me purchasing them. What am I doing wrong. I keep them near sun light, I water them once a week. Please help me I really like plants and tropical plants.

Make sure that the room temp is warm enough and that the plants are not in any drafts. Plenty of light would not hurt, but overwatering does. Allow the soil to dry between waterings.

don't drownd them in water. try putting them in the shade. not direct sun and not water every week. try watering it every other week.
