Metformin or Glucophage is usually the first drug of choice for treating type II diabetes. In type II, your pancrease is unable to produce enough insulin and your body is resistant to the insulin that is produced. Metformin works to make you body more sensitive to the insulin that your pancrease still produces. For many new diabetics, a program of daily exercise and weight reduction can reverse the diagnosis of dibetes. Many times a 10% reduction in weight can make you non-diabetic. Exercise and Metformin work to make your body more sensitive to insulin. The best news is that combining Metformin and exercise will facilitate weight loss! A true win-win situation. For more information visit the American Diabetes Association and the National Institute of Health. for Good Luck!
