Original quote was by Dr. William W. Purkey, an internationally recognized leader in the theory and practice of making schools and classrooms inviting places to learn, and the co-founder of the International Alliance for Invitational Education, an organization of more than 1200 individuals who believe that schools should be engaging places where students enjoy learning.

It was made popular in the song "Come From The Heart" written by Susannah Clark and Richard Leigh.

It would appear to be by Mark Twain. Its a very well known quote, and I'm sure its been used in a soppy girly film, but I can't find any reference!
