Is there a natural alternative to Prednisone?

Hi.

I am asthmatic and occasionally will take Prednisone as a last resort after the Albuterol doesn't work. (My dr is aware of this.) The asthma is considered moderate but persistent. Even though over the past seven months I've only taken it 2-3 times a month and anywhere from 10-60 mg (usually 20-40 mg) depending on the asthma epsiode, I am aware of its side effects. Is there anything natural that relaxes the airways and chest muscles like Prednisone?

Please no horror stories about the drug or asthma.

Thanks for replying,

John

Vitamin C 1000 mg 2-4 times daily; Astragalus 500-1000 mg daily; in addition to many other useful pieces of advice and information.
