there was a little gizmo at Amazon.com, but there don't make it anymore...most tapping are done right from the trunk-stations at there computers data base! it's not like you see in the movies!

call your phone company and ask them to check the line. tell them at the is that weird sound and the echo. they should come out and check you line at your house and they would have the best answer to why your phone is making those noises.

There is no number to call. The phone company cannot tell you.
Why would your phone be tapped?

Call the phone co. and ask them to check your lines. I had a similar problem with echo, static, party lines etc. I tried replacing the phones in my house but it didn't help. Bellsouth did a line check on the phone and when that did not help the situation they sent out a repairman. The repairman checked my lines in my house and at several locations in my area. He explained to me that some hardware had to be updated on their end. It also caused me to have problems with my Internet connections. It always seemed to be worse after it rained too. They thought they had taken care of the problem but I had to call the company again and have them come back out. Eventually they got it right and so far I haven't had anymore trouble. Good Luck with it. Peace2U.

I helped a friend find THE tap equipment being used to tap her home calls. Here's what we did. I followed every wire, one by one, crawled under the house & there it was, recording machine several extension cords and another little gadget that came from radio shack.
I found it near her utility room where a wall phone/jack was seldom used.
She had echo sounds, could hear a little wee rolling static sound. We poured water into the machine, cut the cords, smashed the recorder w/ hammer, removed the tape & set recorder right back where we found it.
