Sudden excessive drooling in dogs?

Question

My dog has all of a sudden started drooling really bad, she has never drooled like this before. She also threw up and wont eat. we have looked in her mouth, and there is nothing lodged in there or anything. Anybody have an idea what might be wrong?

No stupid replys please.

Has she been outside where she might have picked up a toad in her mouth?

Edited to add: Regardless of that, I can think of at least 10 other things that could be wrong. Based on the symptoms you describe, I'd recommend you take her in to see her veterinarian ASAP. If they are closed and don't provide their own after-hours service, look in the phone book to find the nearest animal emergency clinic.

Edited to add: WHY do people insist on answering medical questions they are not at all qualified to answer???!

well, she threw up again, and this time there was a mushroom in it, and a few hours later she looked like she was feeling better, and so we think the mushroom might have done something, maybe. She is finenow, but now i just gotta take care of some fleas.

Yeah, sometimes a dog will playfully and curiously pick up a toad, not realizing what will happen. My dog has done that several times. I would schedule a check-up with your vet just to make sure. Also, has the dog been vaccinated against rabies?

She could have tonsillitis;this will make them drool as it hurts to swallow.

Get her to the vet NOW.
Sounds like she has been poisoned. Giving her anything else may compound the problem as different poisonings required different medications and first aid. Because she has vomited, she may have got rid of most of it.
When you take her to the vet take some of the vomit and they will be able to see what the poison is.

I would get him to the vet asap. While you might not be able to see anything, he may have swallowed something and it is stuck somewhere you can't see. Please don't wait, it could mean his life or death.

uh did she eat something like socks or plastic or does she chew on anything that she is not supposed to?...also, does her belly looked bloated or rounder than usual. If you answer "yes" to any of these get her to an emergency vet clinic quick! she could be suffering from bloat (only is she is a medium to x-tra breed dog) or an obstruction. and these are very deadly. Bloat is caused by eating way too much way too quick which causes the stomach to flip over and twist itself. An obstruction is caused when a dog...or cat...eats something that is too big to be passed through the intestines. She could also have eating something like antifreeze or some other household product. To be sure take her to an emergency clinic.

Take her to a veterinarian immediately!
She could have something in her mouth or throat that you can't see. She could have ingested something poisonous or irritating. There is no way to tell exactly what is going on without a doctor's help.
