List some good fantasy writers and books...? more for adults plz?

I love reading fantasy books, especially ones about vampires, witches, werewolves and such... can u recommend any....I know the author's Laurel K. Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kelley Armstrong, Marjorie M. Liu, C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp, Poppy Z. Brite, Christine Feehan, Lilith Saintcrow, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Suzan Seizemore... I would prefer author's and books that are not the usual suspects... thanx in advance....

If you are looking for "adult" books (ie. erotic) then you can try doing the e-book method. There some pretty hot stuff out there. A couple of sites are Changeling Press and Ellora's Cave. You can find some Angela Knight e-books, along with others.

Go with David (and sometimes Leigh, his wife), Eddings. His first series, the Belgariad is great, but its aimed at probably a late teens type crowd. His later series are more targeted towards an older adult crowd. You'll really like him I promise. :)

J.R. Ward & Lynn Viehl, they're writing is pretty dark, not so much as Poppy Z. Brite, but still dark.

If you like Sherrilyn and LKH, you'll love J.R. Ward

I read a new series recently called the Tears of Artamon by Sarah Ash.

It gave a eastern european slante to the traditional fantasy. I really liked them. Its not really vampires and the like though.

I'd go with Eddings "Belgariad" and "Malorian" series. Anne McCaffrey is good, too, but I think she may be more teen than adult.

There's a fabulous new book called "The Imagicators" by Brad Marshland. I think it's geared for 10-14 year olds, but I just read it as an adult and loved it. It's one of those rare finds that is sophisticated enough to appeal to grown-ups and fun enough to appeal to all ages.

I'd recommend Jacqueline Carey, Clive Barker, Karl E. Wagner, Tom Piccirilli, Shirley Jackson, Clark Ashton Smith, Glen Cook, Steven Erikson and Storm Constantine.

I'm more of a sci-fi fan but try these:

- The Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan. It's a more adult slant on the Harry Potter idea of a poverty-stricken girl who is found to have powers in a world where magicians are like royalty.

- Wicked by Gregory Maguire. It's like reliving your childhood in that this is a book about the wicked witch from the West and grew to become the evil of Oz. But this is an adult book and not dumbed down in the slightest.

I know of two excellent fantasy/sci fi authors....try Mercedes Lackey and Anne McCaffrey.....they are very good authors....

i know Lori Handeland has some good werewolf books out. another one i picked off the shelf i believe is Jennifer St. Giles-to toucha dark wolf. another very good werewolf shapeshifter novel. but other than that i stick to Chrstine Feehan and Sherrilyn Kenyon for now. i frequent the racks at grocery stores and walmart and see if the title catches my eye, then i read the back. thats all i can think of right now. Anne Rice is ok i guess. if you do read Christine Feehan and are up to date with her books, i strongly recommend Dark Celebration
