Please God! Please please talk to your doctor and don't go by anything you read posted here. You are talking about medication with very young children. Don't leave it to chance.

No. It will dilute the medication. If she won't take the medicine alone, then you might want to ask your pharmacy if they can flavor it for you.

You really need to call a pharmacist and ask that just to be safe. Milk has certain enzymes in it that can break down or hinder absorption of some medicines. When in doubt, check with a registered pharmacist. Good luck.

I would say No, the direction explicitly say "Take this medication an hour before food or on an empty stomach."

So do not mix with milk, it will affect the absorption.

The person who works in the pharmacy had an interesting point about milk diluting the medicine, but I wonder if it matters, as long as your daughter downs the entire dose.

I'd be more concerned about whether the medicine was somehow bad when combined with milk - but then, I'd hope the medicine would have a sticker on the side with a warning to that effect on it.

Probably your best bet is to give your doctor or your pharmacist a call to ask this question. If they say no to milk, maybe they'll have some other idea about how you can get your daughter to take the medicine.

You are actually supposed to take the medication with food so it will not hurt. But you need to make sure they drink all of the milk and not each others milk. Doctors really don't suggest it (they would say to just give it to them straight because mixing it takes to long and they might not take it all) or they may not drink it all at once and the doses may end up being to close together. But mixing it in milk will not hurt the medication.

I don't know offhand - some drugs bind with protein or calcium so this could slow absorption (which isn't so bad) or reduce the amount absorbed (which would be bad). If it says 'take with food' you're probably OK, but ask your doctor or pharmacist to be sure. Keep in mind that metronidazole tastes *nasty* and the milk may or may not help; if they won't drink it, it's wasted effort.

What I want to know is where you got metronidazole suspension; I've only ever seen tablets and been told there is no liquid form.

u dont need them addicted to drugs1
id take them to a herbalist or homeopath
and get their hair analysed
a fresh natural diet with no yeast bread and olive leaf extract daily would do wonders

That's fine. Just make sure that they take the entire dose and each child is getting the correct dosage.
