Okay lets ask this again how do I get rid of mice that are climbing up the tires to the engine and chewing .?

They are not in the car they are under the hood. the car isn't dirty. They are chewing on the transmission wire and the ones to my carberator. Hope that is a little clearer for you. I want a nartural repellent that I can put on the ground or the tires so they will choose another place to chew. I can't park it anywhere else either. Where I live is in the country and the area I park on is gravel. Hope this give you a better picture.

put mothballs under your hood and where you park that should keep them away - had the same problem and that's what a mechanic told me

Simply solution i think would be to get a cat or two. Other than that i'm sure what else you can do apart from build a garage.

I've been told coke. They drink it and the carbonation kills them. Told by exterminator. Also put out poison or traps.

I agree with snoopdizzal - mothballs or mothcakes will help repel them. The only downside to this would be that your cabin air intake may bring the smell inside the car - making it a bit unpleasant.

Or - try spraying a solution of water and hot pepper sauce on the wires. I used this trick for a siamese that kept chewing on cords and wires in my home. It quickly and humanely broke him of the habit.

in reference to a responder above, a cat or two...
I'd actually say get about 10 stray cats, or outdoors cats that people are not able to keep...and have them stick around, and keep up an invisible fence and limit their foodage (ie-don't buy them food, but make sure these are outdoor-friendly cats, not purebreds!lol)...the mice will be gone pretty quick...


In contrast:
an idea would be to leave stuff on the ground in the vicinity of the car, food stuff that attracts mice, set up with a trap.
When the mice are caught, bring them to an animal rescue, so they won't need to die, but they'll be out of your way ^_^


And apparently PETA carries a humane form of trapping them

Castor oil pellets. If you line the area around where you park this should keep them away... (on second thought Broadcast the pellets around the whole area) Moth balls work too but well Castor pellets are less noticeable. This will also work well for moles in your yard but since the issue is mice it will work for them too.

we had the same thing several years ago and we had nine cats at the time so they didn't help
whatever it was only bothered our truck, didn't get in any other car
we think it was some kind of squirrel or weasel like thing because the pellets it left behind were too big to be mice or rat
the only thing similar that I can think of is in europe they thought cars were being vandalized but they used cameras to determine that a mink/weasel like creature was chewing up all the hoses and wires under the hoods
