You never mentioned how you hurt your pinky, so I'll try to give general information. If you don't want to go to a doctor, the best thing I can advise is a modified version of RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation). Raise your hand up on a desk or a pillow somewhere and put your pinky on an ice pack, or submerge it in a small cup of ice water--whatever's easier. If you choose the ice pack route, make sure there's a thin towel between your finger and the ice. Remember to ice for only 20 minutes at a time. That should help the pain and prevent/minimize swelling. I would suggest immobilizing the pinky by using a popsicle stick/tongue depressor and medical tape (the wood goes on the underside of your finger and along your hand). Don't tape too tightly. You could also take medical tape to bind your pinky to your ring finger. If the pain persists for more than a few days, if there is significant discoloration, or if your finger goes numb (other than when you're icing), then you really should see a doctor.
