Hi Guys Just a quick one can you get cancer from eating burnt toast?

Question

The reason for asking is because my friend says burnt toast or chargrilled meat can give you cancer ,however what about the bread we eat daily the crusts are burnt most of the time .Please help

This isn't exactly high on the research agenda. We do know that when amino acids and creatine in certain meats are cooked at high temperatures they are converted in hetrocyclic amines (HCAs), which are known carcinogens in animals and may cause cancer in humans. Some of the starch in burnt toast could also theoretically be converted in acrilamides, which have recently been established as probable carcinogens. A direct link hasn't been proven but it won't hurt to scrape off the burnt layer.

I heard that was true. Not just toast though. You supposedly can get cancer from eating most baked goods, some cereals, and even fried potatoes! Man, we should just eat whatever we want! You can get cancer from breathing!

Have you ever heard it said that burnt toast is bad for you? Yes, that's true.
So, back to the burnt toast. Why is it bad? Because polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are produced when something burns. You guessed it: PAHs are a type of pollutant

I've heard that burnt hamburger meat can cause cancer, but then I also heard that it is good for the stomach. It's probably one of those things that an over abundance is bad for you.

well, what i understand is...
one is likely to get cancer from eating burnt products..
eg: BBQ stuff or burnt toast...
so i would just suggest that you have lesser intake of those food...try to eat more healthy food la...

Ok, if you ask a vegetarian... they will say all meat causes cancer. But we aren't vegetarians, now are we?

It is the carcinogens in smoke that cause cancer. Standing with your head in an open grill will cause anyone to get sick.
