As a nurse, I'll tell you we normally use an oral nystatin swish and swallow and it usually takes a week or maybe two. But if you've tried that and it didn't work, it sounds like you're immune system is just overwhelmed. So, rest is very important. Ask for and get help with the new baby as best you can. And I'll tell you two secrets of beating resistent infections. One, get some colostrum. It's available at health food stores for about 40 dollars for a small bottle. A couple teaspoons a day and you'll be well in no time (but you still have to rest more). Another trick is getting to a dry sauna. It raises our core body temp up to about 102 degrees for the time we're in there and works wonders. I recommend it to patients with MRSA and VRE (2 resistent organisms that we only have limited ability to fight anymore). But, and I can't say this enough, you need more rest, my best guess is that your immune system is slightly suppressed and it won't kick in again without getting some more (yes, I'm saying it again) rest.
You might try having the doctor run a blood test on you and make sure your immune system is OK. You'd need a CBC with Diff (i.e. Complete Blood Count with Differential).

I am a cancer nurse and often patient's get oral thrush. We give them nystain and that seems to work without issue. Has the doctor cultured your mouth to see what the thrush is sensative to? Are you taking the medicine as your doctor tells you to?

Your mouth contains both bacteria and fungus. Normally there is a balance. When that is imbalanced the fungus can get the "upper hand". One cause of this can be taking an antibiotic. The bacterial count in your mouth are reduced and it allows the fugal population to take over. A anti fungal medicine will get rid of the thrush.

Are you sure it is thrush?
There are several more severe types of thrush but they are very rare.
You say you had 2 blood tests but not what for.
I would suggest that a biopsy is taken is taken to confirm that it is in fact thrush.
Also if you smoke then it would be a good idea to stop.
Is any other part of your body affected? Such as nails or skin, genitals?

I also had the same problem with oral thrush. I was given Nystatin 100000U SUS Morton Gro. (I read this right off the label)You had to swish and then swallow. It took a long time to get rid of it. What I did not realize was that people with a lot of dental work such as partials were prone to this infection. I had never heard of it before not alone getting it. What did come to be a possible problem was that I was also using an anti-bacterial mouth-wash 3 and 4 times a day. That was not a good thing to do. My mouth was so clean that I cleaned the good and the bad, and here goes the infection again.
My point being is that the nystain could be working but you are reinfecting yourself on a constant basis. You need to find the source. Mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrush? Dental problems?
