Is Christianity responsible for the high crime rate?

The USA has the highest crime rate of any of the 200 nations in the world. 80% of the population goes to church at least once a year. In the Scandinavian nations, only 5% go to church, and they have a low crime rate. Japan, and other non-Christian nations have very low crime rates.

Hmmm... note that the Judeo-Christian Total works out to 83.761%. Not an unexpected result.

Note that ATHEISTS, being a moderate proportion of the USA population (about 8 - 16%) are disproportionately LESS in the prison populations (0.21%).

Pretty odd result, for a group that has no god-given guiding moral principals, huh?

of the 80% that go to church at least once a year... half of them ONLY go one a year. Walking into a church makes nobody a Christian. England and Austrailia have much lower crime rates than the US... yet they have the same amount of people going to church. Answer that?

we have a high crime rate because: we may go to church, but actually 20% of that 80% of americans admit to being christians, and 5% of that 20% are not hypocrites, and are fully hardcore faith driven christians.
in one century the percent of recorded christians has gone down 80%. sad isn't it, because that means alot of christians are not being christians.

well sure when looking at those stats---but i wouldnt consider that going to church once a yr makes you a christian in the sense you need for your question---but alot of murderers do seem to profess their love of god and jesus- so its interesting, because if they believe in god why are they killing people!!!??.......is it because god always forgives and loves you?? sorta, Christians are closed minded and the hate everything they dont do themselves and alot of that goes on so if they are in charge, (the house senate and prez are mainly republican) then thats all those people go down. that's it blame it on GOD again. I don't know if going to church just once a year makes a person a devout Christian or not. We have freedoms that most of the 200 nations in the world you mentioned don't have that allow people to mess up and be criminals. most crimes are petty. check you facts please. don't go by what the news tells you. media is a story teller to earn money first and foremost. i feel very safe and i live in a big city. i can protect myself and my family if need be and it is legal. if you are in a public area and someone acts up in Scandinavian are you prepared to do what should be done to protect the innocent? Nope. It's the NOT religion, it's the so-called hypcritical believers and religious leaders of the Christian church.

Any religion has it's bad eggs. It's up to the good eggs to weed 'em out.

Christianity advocates forgiveness of sins if a sinner confesses to God through Jesus. Unfortunately, this line of religious thinking is used by evil people as a license to continue committing crimes against others. Assassins who are Roman Catholics pray for forgiveness for the sin they will commit then blow someone's brains out. Some guilt-ridden prostitutes pray for forgivness and still continue to prostitute themselves. Homosexuals and pedophiles who are outstanding community and religious leaders justify their lifestyle and perversion and say "Only God can render final judgement on me and not men." I don't need to tell you about Waco, Texas and David Koresh do I?

As for the non-Christian beliefs, their low crime rate is credited to their culture which inculcates discipline and fear of immediate punishment for committing crimes.
